Shaker Heights Student Receives Racists Tweets During Hockey Semifinal
Two Rocky River students tweeted racial slurs at a Shaker student, according to media reports

A series of racist tweets sent to a Shaker Heights student contaminated what was otherwise a special moment for the school, its hockey team and its fans.
According to 19 Action News, the tweets were sent by two white Rocky River students to a black Shaker Heights student after the OHSAA state semifinal hockey game between the two schools -- a game that Shaker went on to win 4-2 en route to a state championship.
The students repeatedly called the Shaker student a racial slur.

WOIO also said that it is not known what prompted the tweets.
Michael Shoaf, the superintendent of Rocky River City Schools, told Sun News that the school district was aware of the tweets.

"We're very sorry to read about this unacceptable behavior," Shoaf told the newspaper.
Shoaf added that the district would work with the students and families involved.
