Shaker Heights To Set Future City Council Salaries This Week

Shaker Heights City Council will decide Wednesday how much they should be paid for their service starting in 2016.

City council members currently earn $9,000 per year after they gave themselves a raise in January 2012. Council members previously earned $7,200 annually.

The draft ordinance calls for keeping compensation at the same $9,000 level beginning in 2016, according to a memo from Chief Administrative Officer Jeri E. Chaikin.

The council has to vote now on those future salaries to continue the compensation for the next council terms.

Council meets at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
