5 Things About Stow’s Senior Snowplow Program

Stow City Council voted to renew the program Thursday

Like last year, Stow City Council has agreed to set aside $10,000 to provide assistance to senior citizens who can’t shovel their driveways.

The city will spend the money clearing the driveways and front walkways of houses where a qualified senior lives.

  1. All residents of a house must be 65 or older or completely disabled and unable to shovel snow.
  2. Seniors must live the entire winter season in the house they are applying forβ€”no snowbirds will be approved for the program.
  3. Apartment and condominium residences are not eligible.
  4. Driveways to be cleared must be concrete or asphalt, as the city will not clear gravel, stone or other similar surfaced driveways.
