Bond Set in Meth Explosion Case

Two men charged in Mac Drive meth explosion permitted release with conditions

The two men charged with making meth after an explosion at a Mac Drive duplex last month have been permitted release from jail on bond.

Stow Municipal Court Judge Lisa Coates modified bond conditions this week for Brandon C. Davis and Stephen J. Scott, both of whom were arrested after a meth lab exploded in their duplex at 1442 Mac Drive on April 17.

Coates changed their bond Tuesday so that each could be released on a $10,000 bond with the conditions that upon their release they be monitored by a GPS tracking device, they live with their father and abstain from using drugs or alcohol, according to Stow Municipal Court Clerk of Courts online records.

Both men were injured in the meth blast and were initially taken to the burn unit at Akron Children's Hospital but were later released.

Upon their release from the hospital, Stow Police charged Davis and Scott with: Illegal Manufacture of Drugs, a first-degree felony; Illegal Drug Chemicals, a second-degree felony; and Aggravated Arson, a first-degree felony.

Neither man entered a plea on the charges this week in their appearance before Coates.

Instead, the case has been bound over to the Summit County Common Pleas Court for a grand jury to review.
