The designation honors the military men and women who have received the Purple Heart medal, and also recognizes Strongsville's dedication and support honoring America's combat wounded veterans.

Mayor Tom Perciak issued a proclamation accepting the official designation and declared March 21, 2022 as Purple Heart Day as a tribute to the service and sacrifice of our veterans, and especially the valor of the men and women who have earned the Purple Heart.

Members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart also presented the city with a Special Recognition Award for the city's commitment to combat wounded veterans.
