WESTLAKE, OH — There have been more than 2,500 COVID-19 cases associated with a Westlake ZIP code, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

The 44145 ZIP Code has been home to 2,570 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. In mid-January, there were approximately 2,300 cases associated with the ZIP code.

Over the past week, there has been a drop in new COVID-19 cases in Ohio. The state has confirmed fewer than 4,000 new cases for four straight days and hospitalizations related to the virus have dipped below 3,000.

In response to the decline, Gov. Mike DeWine has shortened the statewide curfew to 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. and has laid out guidelines for removing the curfew altogether.

More than 7.5 percent of Ohioans have received at least the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state health department. As of Wednesday afternoon, 908,096 Ohioans had received at least the first shot and 217,058 Ohioans have completed the vaccination process.
