Driving with dope, a loaded rifle and no license: A 24-year-old Westlake man with a suspended driver’s license was found to have marijuana and a loaded Interordinance 7.62x39mm rifle in his car. He was stopped on July 16 on Detroit Rd. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Improper Handling of a Firearm.

Popping wheelies on I90 while sloppy drunk didn’t turn out so well for a 24-year-old Cleveland motorcyclist: He wiped out on July 17 and was transported by Westlake Fire Department to St. John Medical Center, where he was cited for OVI, Driving Under Suspension, and Wanton-Willful Disregard of Safety. His injuries are not life-threatening.

On July 17, a 47-year-old Westwood Rd. man attributed damage to one board of his fence to the driving of the 79-year-old mother of his neighbor. He in turn followed the woman around Westlake and North Ridgeville. He was warned about stalking.

Pokémon, Guns and Drugs: Pokémon-playing trespassers in Clague Park left a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun in their car on July 18. A 24-year-old Rocky River man claimed the pistol as his. Prescription drugs were also found in car. The Prosecutor will rule on various drug, weapons, and trespass charges.

Credit Monitoring Pays Off: Investing in a credit monitoring service paid off in spades for a Farrs Garden Path man. On July 18, he reported that 4 spurious credit card accounts had been opened using his identity. All were closed with no loss to him.

Perhaps Credit Monitoring is a Good Idea? A Windsong Ct. woman is in the process of buying a house. A credit check turned up a delinquent $547 utilities account for a Canal Winchester address. She reported the ID theft on July 19.

Pot Mom: A 37-year-old Westlake woman has been giving her 15-year-old son (who has a drug problem) marijuana to smoke when he visits her. His father is the custodial parent and reported the drug offense on July 19; the City Prosecutor has ruled that marijuana mom should be charged with Child Endangering.

No Birth Date? No Money: When you can’t give a bank teller your DOB, you are going to raise red flags. A black male suspect tried to get a cash advance on two credit cards at Crocker Rd. bank on July 20. When he could not answer that simple question, he ran out empty-handed to a waiting car.

Too Good to be True? A Laura Ln. couple invested $100,000 with a Facebook friend who promised a 1000% return on their money. Other family members kicked in another $40,000, all the funds were wired to Hong Kong. Other family members told them they had been defrauded; the incident was reported on July 20.

Uber Driver with Imaginary Friend? A 39-year-old Westlake woman peeled her tires and was weaving on July 20. When stopped on Chaucer Dr., she claimed to be an Uber driver; there were no passengers on board. She also claimed that the smell of alcoholic beverages about her person could be attributed to a friend (choose one only) urinating or vomiting in the car. There was no evidence of either. She was arrested for OVI and refused to take a breath test.
