Westlake Boys Basketball Wins Conference Tourney, Claims Awards
The Westlake Demons basketball team can call the Great Lakes Conference MVP one of their own.
WESTLAKE, OH — After winning the Great Lakes Conference boys basketball tournament, the Westlake High boys basketball team reeled in several major awards.
Senior Ray Ellington earned the prestigious title of most valuable player in the Great Lakes Conference. Ellington, along with teammates Will Ostrowski and Greyson Elyaderani were also named 1st-Team All Great Lakes. Basheer Alramahi was named 2nd-Team All-Great Lakes.
Julian Coleman and Derek Occhipinti were honorable mention selections for the all-conference teams.

Over the weekend, the Demons toppled Valley Forge High in the Great Lakes Conference tournament championship game. The boys fell behind by double digits in the first quarter before storming back and winning the game 76-61.
Ellington had 23 points and 5 blocks, Elyaderani added 17 points, Coleman had 16 and Alramahi had 10. Jacob Miller snagged 12 rebounds in the win.

The Demons are now 20-2 on the season and will play North Ridgeville on Wednesday.
