Bobcat In Sapulpa Herald Restroom Lunges At Newspaper Publisher

The animal probably got into the building through an open door, Sapulpa Herald publisher Darren Sumner said.

SAPULPA, OK — As any cat owner knows, it's not totally unheard of for one to open a closet or bathroom and find a lounging feline on the other side of the door. But a hissing bobcat? Well that's something else entirely.

Darren Sumner, publisher of the Sapulpa Herald, walked into a front-page story on a recent morning as he headed into the restroom of the newspaper's office in Sapulpa, a small city near Tulsa. The wild animal lunged at Sumner as he walked in, Sumner said.

He shut the door, trapping the adult male cat until police and a game warden arrived. Wildlife control workers captured the bobcat in a cage and released it in nearby Pawnee County.
