Here are the top three stories today in Oklahoma City:

  1. Steven Curnett, 24, was arrested for second-degree murder this week for an incident that happened overnight. Early Thursday morning around 1:30 a.m., Oklahoma City officers responded to the 4600 block of SW 3rd Street where a victim was found dead of a shooting injury. Curnett who was still present at the scene surrendered to the police without incident, allegedly Curnett and the victim got into an argument that led to shots being fired. Curnett was booked into the county jail shortly after being arrested, this is the 36 homicide of the year in the city. (KOKH FOX25)
  2. The Oklahoma City City Council has decided to put more focus on fixing potholes and resurfacing roads as part of the Better Streets, Better City program. It was voted on earlier this week by council members that the city should use bonds to continue to better the roads and sidewalks throughout the city. It is believed that it will take around $240 million yearly to maintain and resurface streets, sidewalks, and trails to keep them at safe and operable standards. It is expected that just in 2023, 60,000 potholes will be fixed and more than 140 miles of road will be resurfaced. (KWTV 9 News)
  3. Karice King was arrested earlier this week after attacking a nurse at Mercy Hospital. King was sent to the hospital Tuesday after threatening to kill herself and others. Allegedly she became upset with the nurse during her visit and pinned the nurse down with a chair continuing to attack her before other nurses stepped in to restrain her. Currently, she is being held in the Oklahoma County Detention Center on charges of assault and battery. (KWTV 9 News)
