Deputy Killed While Trying To Serve Eviction Notice: Police
The shooter fled in a truck with a boat attached and exchanged gunfire with police during a chase through Oklahoma City, authorities said.
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — One sheriff’s deputy is dead and another is injured after an eviction turned violent when a man shot at law enforcement before leading police on a lengthy and bizarre chase, according to reports.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday afternoon that Sgt. Bobby Swartz had died, while the other deputy who was shot was in stable condition.
The incident began about 1:15 p.m. Monday, when three deputies attempted to serve an eviction notice in the 2200 block of Southwest 78th Street, police said. A man at the home shot two of the deputies, while one deputy returned fire, according to police.

The man then fled in a pickup truck with a boat attached, exchanging gunfire with police as he led them along multiple interstates to Tinker Air Force Base, where he dropped his long gun, exited the truck, pulled down his shorts and was tackled by several officers, according to footage from News 9. None of the officers involved in the chase were hurt and the shooter was not struck either, law enforcement said.
The incident is being investigated by the Oklahoma City Police Department.
