How OKC built an extensive underground tunnel system in the 1970s (oklahoman.com) — Downtown Oklahoma City’s familiar underground tunnels began with a bold 1973 plan to link major buildings and the Myriad Convention Center in climate-controlled comfort. Civic leaders, the chamber of commerce, and Mayor Patience Latting pushed the Metro Concourse from contract to groundbreaking to completion in just over a year, creating what was then touted as the world’s largest pedestrian tunnel system.

2. Volunteers needed for OK River trash pick up (kfor.com) — Oklahoma City’s Waterway Clean Sweep program is recruiting volunteers to help remove trash from the Oklahoma River on Jan. 10 from 9–11 a.m. Participants will get rare access near Western Avenue’s lowered drainage basin, plus training, gear, and hot drinks while helping keep a key local waterway clean.

OHP highlights dangers of driving while tired (okcfox.com) — State troopers based in Oklahoma City are warning drivers about the dangers of drowsy driving after stopping a man who apparently fell asleep behind the wheel on the Will Rogers Turnpike. OHP says the car’s lane-assist likely kept it moving at 40 mph while the driver slept, and they’re urging residents to treat fatigue as seriously as drunk driving.

Richard Glossip's attorney optimistic about potential release based on 2023 agreement (koco.com) — A long-running Oklahoma County murder case with major ties to Oklahoma City is moving toward a pivotal February hearing that could free former death row inmate Richard Glossip. His attorney says a 2023 agreement with the state—trading a reduced charge for time served—should be enforced, with a bond hearing and key testimony from the attorney general expected next month.

Oklahoma Lottery Powerball, Lotto America results for Dec. 29, 2025 (oklahoman.com) — Oklahoma City lottery players can now check the official winning numbers for Powerball, Lotto America, Pick 3, Lucky for Life, and Cash 5 from the Dec. 29 drawings. Winners are reminded they can mail signed tickets and claim forms directly to the Oklahoma Lottery’s Oklahoma City P.O. Box for prize processing, including optional direct deposit with proper bank documentation.
