Covenant Living at Inverness Celebrates 20-year Anniversary

Senior living community provides Tulsa-area older adults an active, engaging lifestyle

Tulsa, Okla.: Covenant Living at Inverness recently held a celebration for the senior living community’s 20-year anniversary with residents and employees on Wednesday, October 18. The community was founded by several members of the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa who believed that Tulsa needed a true Continuing Care Retirement Community that provided a variety of living options, amenities, and Life Care—an option that would guarantee the right to live at Inverness Village for the remainder of the life of the resident.

That commitment to older adults started in 2000 and following construction, Covenant Living at Inverness (originally Inverness Village) opened its doors in 2003. Today, Covenant Living at Inverness is home to more than 300 residents, and it employs 200 people providing a range of services from dining, fitness, maintenance, healthcare and more for the residents.

“We truly are a unique senior living community that over the years has evolved to create a family-like atmosphere with residents who care about each other and the employees here,” said Garrett Lee, executive director at Covenant Living of Inverness. “There are a few of the first residents who still live here as well as a few employees—a testament to our culture and lifestyle.”

The senior living community is located in Tulsa Hills and is unique in its architectural Scottish-style look and feel. The community offers independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care.

Resident John Cochrum, retired principal and assistant superintendent of Sapulpa Public Schools and a decorated WW II veteran believes moving here 11 years ago was the best decision ever.

“I have a calendar that seems to be quite full, and I think most of the residents are like that. We have great number of activities at Covenant Living at Inverness, and there's always something to do,” said Cochrum. “I’ve served a term on the board of directors and I’m also a resident ambassador and help the marketing department with new prospects.”

Mary and Bob Bristow have lived at the community for nine years following a move from Philadelphia. They say the lifestyle is exactly what they were looking for in retirement living.

“We've been taking some river cruises before we moved here, and actually we don't need to anymore because it's just as luxurious and pleasant here as it is on the river cruise.” said Mary Bristow.
