Here are the top stories today in Tulsa:
- On Sunday morning, athletes from all over will converge in Tulsa to compete in the third and last Ironman to be hosted in Tulsa. The athletes will swim in Keyston Lake, then bike through Green Country, and run through the city of Tulsa. Come out to cheer everyone on and see these amazing athletes compete against one another. (News On 6)
- Monif Habib, who grew up in Green Country, visited family in Lebanon and after seeing the conditions there he wanted to do something to help. So, he combined his love of running with his inspiration to make things better and ran from Tripoli to Beirut (which is more than 50 miles), to raise $5,000 for the Lebanese Food Bank. According to KOKI FOX 23 Tulsa, "The run took him just under 8 hours with four stops for a refuel and bathroom break." Great job Monif! (KOKI FOX 23 TULSA)
- Paying homage to those who have passed in the line of duty, Tulsa County Sherriff's Office gathered for a ceremony Thursday. According to KTUL, "Since 1909, 13 deputies have died in the line of duty, with the most recent being Sgt. John Harris. Harris contracted COVID-19 in the course of his duties and passed away on August 19, 2021. The ceremony opened with remarks from FOP President Sgt. LaMont Hill and ended with a benediction from Chaplain Kristie Davis." (KTUL)
