  1. Joining nearly 250 other model communities within the nation which support young men of color, Tulsa will soon be recognized by former President Barack Obama as a 'model community" for the My Brother's Keeper Alliance, which will receive access to coaching, support, peer-to-peer learning, and an $800,000 grant from the Obama Foundation. (KOKI FOX 23 TULSA)
  2. Zoo School is in session this May at the Tulsa Zoo. First conceived as a way to teach kids about wildlife, zoo animals and nature during the COVID-19 lockdown, zoo school became a fast favorite for homeschooled kids, so the zoo has reinstated the program. You can sign up for the May 18 session by clicking here. (KTUL)
  3. On May 24, the Oklahoma Broadband Office (OBO) will be hosting an Internet for All workshop, with state and federal officials on hand to answer questions. According to Oklahoma.gov, "The event will focus on access, adoption, and use of high-speed internet (broadband) across the state. The event will take place at the VFW Post 577, located at 1109 East 6th St. from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The day will include a review and update on broadband funding and programs including details that impact Tribal Nations and area workforce needs.
The public is encouraged to register at https://bit.ly/OBO-LetsGetDigital. The workshop is being held in conjunction with an ongoing statewide tour of communities to gather input for a five-year plan for high-speed internet buildout in Oklahoma." (Oklahoma.gov)
