Good morning,
Given the current conditions, we will be in school in person today, Friday, March 11. We have continued to work closely with the National Weather Service and the Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency to monitor the weather overnight. Anticipated precipitation this morning has decreased with the higher totals being in the northern portions of the county. We are expecting some snow in our area – not greater than 1-2 inches – and no ice accumulation that would create unsafe situations for travel or students walking.

We will continue to serve seven days’ worth of snack and supper meals free of charge today from 11am to 1pm at the former Grimes Elementary building (3213 E. 56th St.) for the days that classes are not in session for the district’s spring break next week.
We encourage you to take the following precautions this morning:
-
Limit the amount of time spent outside and exposed to the temperatures;
-
Use caution while driving and walking outside;
If students ride the bus, have them wait for it with you inside a warm vehicle;
Layer appropriate and available clothing that will provide insulation against the wind and cold and that can be removed in layers as the day warms;
Keep your student well-hydrated and try to avoid sugary or caffeinated beverages; and
Ensure proper sleep to help assist your student’s immune system.
For assistance with clothing, shelter, utility payments or other resources and services, you can contact 211 Eastern Oklahoma by phone at 2-1-1 or by texting your zip code to 898-211.
