UTulsa to Host Late Night Breakfast with Cinco de Mayo Theme

Event to draw hundreds of students eager for a study break with free food, music and creative activities

University of Tulsa students will step away from their textbooks for a few hours on Monday, May 5, as TU Dining presents its Late Night Breakfast at the Allen Chapman Student Union.

The event, scheduled from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., is expected to draw hundreds of students eager for a study break with free food, music and creative activities. This semester’s gathering coincides with Cinco de Mayo and will incorporate festive decorations and themed menu items to mark the occasion.

To prepare, all retail dining locations will close at 7:30 p.m., allowing staff to transform the student union into a colorful, welcoming space. Each dining concept will serve a breakfast favorite, and a live DJ will provide music throughout the night.

The menu will feature familiar favorites — including bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes and biscuits with gravy — alongside holiday-inspired dishes such as breakfast tacos, a breakfast nacho bar, fruit cups with Tajín and lime, and dulce de leche shooters. A build-your-own churro bar and horchata station will be set up inside the Faculty Club, offering students a rare opportunity to visit the typically restricted space.

In addition to the food, students can participate in clay pot painting, friendship bracelet making and a themed photo booth. Students painting clay pots will also receive seeds to take home.

The Latin American Student Association is partnering with TU Dining for the event, assisting with setup, activities and volunteer coordination. More than 40 faculty and staff volunteers are expected to help serve food and manage activities.

Late Night Breakfast is intended to ease the pressure of finals and strengthen the campus community. TU Dining is donating all food and staffing, emphasizing its ongoing support for students during one of the busiest times of the year.

The event will span both floors of the student union, giving students plenty of room to relax, eat and recharge before heading into the final stretch of the semester.
