4 Dead After Car Crash In Salem Homeless Encampment: Police
Two other people are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
SALEM, OR — Four people are dead, and two more suffered life-threatening injuries after a car crashed into a homeless encampment in Salem on Sunday morning, according to the Salem Police Department.
The crash occurred at an encampment near Front Street NE and Division Street NE at around 2 a.m., according to authorities.
Two people from the camp were pronounced dead on the scene, and four people were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two later died at the hospital, police said. The driver of the car also was taken to the hospital.

Police did not release names of any of the people involved in the incident.
Authorities closed Front Street between Union Street and D Street and closed Division Street between Union and Commercial Street during the investigation.
