Visitors are encouraged to bring canned food, which the family regularly delivers to a local church food bank, hoping to boost donations after a couple of slower years.
   

• Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative announces $3 million capital credit retirement (elkhornmediagroup.com) — Baker City-based Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative will return $3 million in capital credits to its member-owners in 2025, continuing a 29-year streak of payouts. The co-op says the refunds reflect strong finances and help keep local electric rates competitive while funding system upgrades. Smaller refunds will appear as bill credits, while larger amounts will be mailed as checks by year’s end.
   

• Baker City OSP busts California fugitive (elkhornmediagroup.com) — An Oregon State Police traffic stop in Baker City on December 4 led to the arrest of a Halfway resident wanted in California on serious felony charges. The man was booked into Baker County Jail on a high bail, and a status hearing is set for December 17, while family members collected his vehicle and dog from the scene.
