Arnold Barriga allegedly tried to hold up a Tigard Plaid Pantry with a pellet gun. The clerk on duty, however, chose not to comply.

TIGARD, OR — A Plaid Pantry clerk was hurt during an unsuccessful armed robbery attempt in Tigard early Monday, but he was still able to help catch the suspect, according to Tigard police.
Arnold Luis Barriga, 45, was taken to Washington County Jail following his arrest. He is reportedly charged with robbery, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

The clerk apparently put up enough of a struggle that the suspect — later identified as Barriga — abandoned the robbery and fled empty-handed and on foot into the surrounding neighborhood.
While emergency responders provided medical care to the injured clerk, Tigard K9 officers tracked Barriga about a quarter-mile to where he was hiding in a car. Barriga was arrested there reportedly without incident.
