New Beaverton City Councilor Edward Kimmi Sworn In

BEAVERTON, OR — Edward Kimmi is the newest member of Beaverton's City Council. He was sworn in Tuesday to represent District 3 for the next three years. Kimmi was elected in May to finish out the term of Mark Fagin who resigned Jan. 1.

"Welcome to the team, Councilor Kimmi," Mayor Lacey Beatty said at the meeting Tuesday after he was sworn in by Beaverton Municipal Court Judge Juliet Britton. "Buckle up because your first meeting out of the gate is a good one to be at."

After Kimmi was sworn in, the council went into an executive session to discuss the newly negotiated contract with members of the Beaverton Police Department.

When the City Council returned to its public meeting, Kimmi cast his first vote, voting in favor of the contract.

Kimmi has run a chiropractic practice in Beaverton with his wife Helen for the past 18 years. they have twin sons, Alex and Nick. who graduated from Beaverton High School.

Born in South Korea, Kimmi and his family fled to the United States from Kuwait in 1990 after Iraq invaded the county.
