Serial Burglar Caught In Tigard, Police Say

Police believe Ronald Dickinson is responsible for at least 8 burglaries in and around Tigard between May 9 and June 25.

TIGARD, OR — Tigard police believe they've caught the man responsible for at least eight burglaries perpetrated in the area over the past two months.

Ronald Lee Dickinson, 55, is being held at Washington County Jail. He is charged with burglary (multiple counts), disorderly conduct, and felon in possession of a weapon. His bail is set at $5,250.

Dickinson was arrested Monday after he was contacted by Tigard officers who were originally investigating his role in an unrelated harassment case, Tigard Police Department spokesman Jim Wolf said.

It was during an interview with Dickinson on Sunday that police investigators developed the suspicion that Dickinson may also be connected to a series of residential burglaries that were reported between May 9 and June 25. All but one of the burglaries allegedly perpetrated by Dickinson occurred in Tigard, Wolf said.

The burglaries were all carried out during the day while the residents weren't home, Wolf said. Police believe Dickinson forced his way into homes generally along Hall Boulevard, most often by breaking a window. Stolen money, jewelry, electronics, and possibly one firearm were all attributed to Dickinson.

Wolf said the stolen property has not yet been recovered.

Dickinson was previously arrested on burglary charges three other times: in Washington (2014), Clackamas (2007), and Multnomah (2006) counties. He was convicted in all three previous cases.
