Stranger Attacked Child At Home In Beaverton: Police
Police are asking the community to help identify a young man who broke into a Beaverton home and assaulted a 10-year-old last week.

BEAVERTON, OR — A 10-year-old was assaulted at home in Beaverton last week, but the suspect reportedly got away. Now police officials are asking the community for help identifying and capturing the assailant.
Beaverton police spokesman Jeremy Shaw said officers were dispatched to a burglary/assault at a home in the 13700-block of Southwest Sixth Street just after 3:45 a.m. July 29. Investigating officers at the scene reportedly learned someone had broke into the home through an open ground-floor bedroom window.
Sleeping in the bedroom was the 10-year-old victim, Shaw said.

The suspect reportedly assaulted the child after entering the room but quickly fled after the child alerted the rest of the household. The child sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the attack, Shaw said.
The suspect is described as a white man either in his teens or early 20s standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, with a slim build and short dark hair. At the time of the assault the suspect was wearing a white tank top and black shorts.

Additionally, Shaw said, the suspect smelled like marijuana.
After fleeing the home, the suspect was reportedly seen running west on Southwest Sixth Street toward Southwest Murray Boulevard.
Shortly afterward, "a silver two-door Honda Civic with a loud muffler was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed," Shaw said, noting that it's unclear whether the suspect was driving the Civic or whether the two things just coincidentally happened at the same time.
