BEAVERTON, OR – After hours of conducting a room by room search of Stoller Middle School in Beaverton, the Washington County Sheriff's Office lifted the lockdown that had been place. The school had been placed in lockdown after several administrators in the school district received a threatening email.
Stoller went on lockdown at 12:20 p.m., not long after the email was received. Nearby Jacob Wismer Elementary School was placed on lockdown because of the police activity.
Officials say that they are still trying to determine who had sent the email.
Students were in lockdown for a little more than four hours. The sheriff's office lifted it at 4:41 p.m. after the room by room search was completed.
The sheriff's office says that the detailed search was necessary because of the content of the email. They didn't elaborate.
Parents of Stoller students were originally told that they would be able to get their kids around 3:45 but that was pushed back. They were urged to stay away until law enforcement gave the all clear.
As classrooms were cleared, students and teachers were escorted into the gym where school district nutrition staff provided meals. The district also had administrators, translators, and other staff on hand.
The district said that there would be no bus service except for SPED transportation.
All students needed to be picked up by a parent or guardian with photo identification.
Jacob Wismer students were getting ready to be dismissed just after 3 p.m..
