Community Spotlight: Lynn Snodgrass, CEO of Gresham Chamber of Commerce

GRESHAM, OR - Lynn Snodgrass is the CEO of the Gresham Chamber of Commerce, and she spoke with Patch about her work with the Chamber. She first took office in June 15, 2015 as CEO of the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Gresham Chamber of Commerce has been in existence since 1931. Their mission is to involve the community in decisions made surrounding the evolving Gresham economy. The goals of the chamber are to: advance a vibrant and prosperous local economy, represent business to government, promote the community and connect business and people. Snodgrass felt she was the correct person for the job.

"I have always had great respect for the chamber mission and what the chamber can do for the community at large and businesses specifically. Business knowledge, relationship building, understanding complexity of issues, education connections and government advocacy are key components to the success of the CEO of a chamber. I have been blessed with experience in all as well as living in the area for 40 plus years," said Lynn Snodgrass.

Snodgrass was approached by several different members of the Chamber when the CEO position became vacant. She was cautious about accepting the position, the process would be to select the person who is best equipped to handle the position.

"My vision and goal for the Gresham community is parallel to the goals and vision for the Chamber. Advocate, educate and collaborate. It takes all three to provide a successful environment to live and work," said Snodgrass.

Snodgrass loves being with her 7 grand children and her daughters. She loves to cook and spends time with her bible study and her church. She's a fan of NFL Sunday football as well.

"Gresham is a small town feeling community filled with people who are caring and honest. They want the best for their children, neighbors and friends. They don’t strive to be “Hollywood glamorous” in success but are quiet in progress always moving forward towards improvements and success. They want security and prosperity and are willing to work for both. They are welcoming, giving, and humble. They elected the youngest Mayor in Oregon and have supported the changes he has made by reelecting him multiple times. We are willing and continue to fight back on the bad press we often get by striving to correct the problems brought to us from outside sources. That is part of our work hard ethic," said Snodgrass
