Gresham Police ID Portland Man As Suspect Killed After Bank Rob
Gresham Police say that 24-year-old Roman Ivan Kokhanevych was shot and killed by police after he fired at them fleeing a bank robbery.

GRESHAM, OR — Gresham Police say that 24-year-old Roman Ivan Kohkanevych was shot and killed by officers Tuesday evening as he fired at them while fleeing a bank robbery. They added that a woman who was Kohkanevych's accomplice is under arrest.
Police say that they got a call at 4:40 p.m. that there was an armed robbery at the Key Bank on the 2500 block of Southeast Burnside Road.
Witnesses told 911 that the man fled into a waiting Mercedes SUV that was the man's getaway car.

Around 20 minutes later, deputies from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spotted the SUV but police say that Kohkanevych and his accomplice sped off.
The deputies gave chase and were joined by others from the sheriff's office and the Gresham police department.

Police say that at one point, the SUV turned into a parking lot and the two suspects jumped out, firing at deputies and officers, and jumped into another car, ordering the woman driving to speed away.
While she drove, police say that Vohkanevych fired again at his pursuers.
At one point, the officers firing back struck Vohkanevych.
The woman stopped driving, officers pulled her to safety and tried to save Vohkanevych's life but he died there.
Police also arrested 33-year-old Haley Hop who is charged with two counts of robbery.
Police and the sheriff's office are working with Multnomah County District Attorney and the FBI to continue the investigation.
Detectives say that while there are no injuries that they know if, they believe that there may be people who were in traffic crashes during the chase. They would like to hear from those people.
Police say that they believe that Vohkanevych may have been involved in other bank robberies.
