Gresham touts Garage to Storefront program as way to uplift small business (theoutlookonline.com) — Gresham is expanding its Garage to Storefront program to help home-based and growing entrepreneurs cover first-year license and permit fees when they move into brick-and-mortar spaces. The city highlights success stories like Twisted Treasures and is actively promoting plaques and outreach to fill vacant storefronts in Downtown, Rockwood, and Civic Neighborhood, aiming to boost the local small-business economy.
   

2. Multnomah County closes Stark Street Bridge to all semi-trucks (portlandtribune.com) — Semi-trucks over 19 tons are now banned from entering the Stark Street Bridge from the Historic Columbia River Highway, which will change how heavy trucks reach Troutdale and Gresham. Lighter trucks can still cross, and semis within limits may cross when coming from Gresham’s side. The county hopes this protects the aging, repeatedly damaged bridge while it plans a full replacement.
   

3. 2 brothers charged in Gresham homicide after fist fight devolves into fatal shooting, prosecutors say (oregonlive.com) — A man was fatally shot during a late-night fight at a Gresham gas station on West Powell Boulevard, and two brothers are now facing second-degree murder charges. Prosecutors say security video captured the entire confrontation, from the initial argument at the pumps to the struggle over a gun. Both suspects were identified through the vehicle’s license plate and family interviews and are scheduled for arraignment Tuesday.
   

4. ‘Not tolerating this behavior anymore': Portland sees 65% decline in stolen cars since 2022 thanks to police's unique approach (koin.com) — Regional stolen-car crackdowns that include Gresham Police are helping Portland cut reported vehicle thefts by 65% since 2022, according to new data. Joint missions based out of PPB’s East Precinct, plus community and research partnerships, are recovering cars, seizing guns, and signaling to thieves that agencies across the metro area are coordinating more aggressively.
