Sheriff IDs Shari's Robbers As Career Criminals

The same restaurant was robbed at gunpoint just after 3 a.m. Dec. 21, but sheriff's officials do not believe the crimes are related.

TROUTDALE, OR β€” Two people were arrested in connection with an early morning armed robbery in Troutdale Wednesday at the same restaurant that was robbed just after 3 a.m. Dec. 21, 2017.

Christopher Douglas Briggs, 42, and Kimberlee Anne Riedy, 51, were taken to the Multnomah County Jail on two counts of robbery each, and for individual probation violations. Bail has been set at $500,000 each.

Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the Shari's Cafe & Pies off Interstate-84 at 557 N.W. Phoenix Dr. in Troutdale just before 3:30 a.m. Jan. 24.

Witnesses told deputies a man, allegedly armed with a handgun, held up the restaurant before escaping in a car just before law enforcement arrived.

Officers with the Gresham Police Department were able to locate the car and the man β€” identified as Briggs β€” based on witness descriptions. Both Briggs and Riedy were detained.

The same Shari's was robbed around the same time of day roughly one month ago, on Dec. 21, but MCSO spokesman Lt. Marc Shrake told Patch the two crimes do not appear to be related.

Briggs has a long, storied history of robbery charges in multiple counties across the state, dating back to 1994 β€” when he was just 19 years old. In 2014, Briggs was sentenced to 18 months at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility for another burglary in Monroe, Oregon.

Riedy also has a handful of theft charges (her first in 1992) mixed in with a few possessions and several driving infractions.

Patch has reached out to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and will update this post when more information is provided.
