Hillsboro Four-Alarm Fire Damages Around Two Dozen Businesses
A fire early Sunday damaged nearly two dozen businesses in the historic Weil Building.

HILLSBORO, OR — Around two dozen businesses were badly damaged in a fire early morning on Main Street. All were located in the city's historic Weil Building.
Firefighters arrived just after 3 a.m., finding that flames and smoke were already coming through the roof. Hillsboro Fire & Rescue quickly upgraded the fire to a fourth alarm and received backup from Washington County, Forest Grove Fire, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, Cornelius Fire, Banks fire, Portland Fire, Gaston Fire, and MetroWest Ambulance.
There were no injuries.

Main Street was closed – and will remain closed through Monday morning – between Second and Third Avenues.
The fire took hours to bring under control.

Meanwhile, the Hillsboro Water Department let people know that they would likely experience some discoloration in their water and urged them to let cold water run for a few minutes before using it.
Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to nearby buildings including Hillsboro Pharmacy.
"Their efforts to keep the Main Street fire from spreading was flat-out amazing," Mayor Steve Callaway said.
"Our hearts go out to the families and all of the Main Street businesses affected by the fire. We and the community are here to support them in their recovery."
