Man charged with fleeing from Washington County Courthouse (hillsboronewstimes.com) — Law enforcement briefly chased and recaptured a man who ran from a probation hearing at the Washington County Courthouse in downtown Hillsboro after his prison sentence was announced. Deputies and Hillsboro police caught him a few blocks away and a grand jury has since indicted him on a second-degree escape charge.
   

2. Hillsboro babysitter convicted of exposing himself to minor (forestgrovenewstimes.com) — A Hillsboro man has been convicted of sex-related charges involving a child he babysat, in a case investigated with help from Hillsboro police. Prosecutors say he showed the child an explicit video and engaged in indecent conduct, and he remains in custody awaiting sentencing in early February.
   

3. Libby Barg Bakke advances drinking water infrastructure (djcoregon.com) — A longtime water infrastructure expert who partners with Hillsboro Water has helped shape major long-term water supply planning for the city and region. Her work includes guiding citizen advisory groups, explaining rate changes, and supporting billion‑dollar projects that aim to keep drinking water reliable for Hillsboro and neighboring communities.
   

4. Hillsboro distributes $200K to combat ICE impacts; city plans for more funding (forestgrovenewstimes.com) — Hillsboro has just distributed $200,000 to 11 nonprofits for legal, food, and rent assistance tied to federal immigration enforcement, with more help on the way. City leaders also approved another $200,000 for eviction prevention and rental support, plus $200,000 for small businesses and $50,000 for literacy programs, aiming to roll out most of the funding by late January.
