Man Found Dead In Washington County Jail, Was Awaiting Trial For Theft
Bryce Bybee, a 22-year-old from Sherwood, was found dead in his cell on Easter Sunday.
HILLSBORO, OR — A 22-year-old man was found dead in his cell on Sunday morning at the Washington County Jail, the Washington County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday.
An indictment issued on March 4 charged Bryce Bybee with three counts of robbery in the first and second degree, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and one count of theft 2.
All the charges stemmed from the robbery of a 7-11/76 Gas Station in Sherwood the week before, according to court records.

He had been arrested without incident, according to Sherwood Police.
The sheriff's office said that at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, a deputy was conducting a routine check and found Bybee unresponsive. The sheriff's office said that the deputies called for help and medical personnel tried to revive Bybee.

A spokesman for the office said that the state medical examiner conducted an autopsy that afternoon. The results have not been released.
While in custody deaths are normally investigated by the Washington County Violent Crimes Team, the sheriff's office said that they have asked the Beaverton Police Department to conduct an outside investigation into Bybee's death.
