2. Lake Oswego population grows in 2025 according to Portland State estimates (lakeoswegoreview.com) — Lake Oswego’s population has inched up again, with Portland State University estimating 41,474 residents in 2025, a modest gain over last year. City leaders are planning for roughly 2,000 additional housing units over the next two decades, even as smaller household sizes may limit how much the population grows. Statewide, Oregon’s growth now depends heavily on people moving in rather than births.

The decision locks in league opponents and travel patterns for local high school teams starting with the 2026-27 school year, while football-specific details are still being finalized.

Lake Oswego family mourns 26-year-old lost on Mount Hood: ‘He was an adventurer' (oregonlive.com) — A Lake Oswego–raised climber, 26-year-old Matt Aldridge, is presumed dead after a fall on Mount Hood, leaving his family and friends grieving while they await recovery of his body. Aldridge, a Bryant, Waluga, and Lakeridge graduate, was an avid outdoorsman, Eagle Scout, musician, and devoted dog owner whose adventurous spirit drew him repeatedly to Northwest peaks. His parents and partner are remembering his love of the mountains even as they keep vigil for his return.

5. Wilsonville man indicted after incident involving sheriff's deputies (wilsonvillespokesman.com) — Lake Oswego and West Linn police are leading the investigation into a December 5 incident where Clackamas County deputies shot a 19-year-old Wilsonville man who allegedly charged them with an axe. A grand jury has indicted him on multiple felony and misdemeanor counts and ruled the deputies’ use of force justified, with an arraignment expected after his hospital release.
