Abington, Jenkintown Schools Closed For Snow

Up to 6 inches of snow is expected in the region on Monday, forecasters said.

EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA —With several inches of snow expected on Monday, several schools will be closed for the day.

Heavy and possibly dangerous snow is expected to blanket the Philadelphia area overnight and through the day Monday, with up to 6 inches in the forecast for parts of the region, forecasters said.

Snowfall is expected to start early Monday and end in the afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service said.

Abington School District

Due to the timing of Monday's snow forecast, and out of a concern for safety in traveling to/from school, all Abington School District schools will be closed. Please refer to the district's inclement weather procedures for the 2024-2025 school year, which were emailed to parents and guardians last month, for more information: https://www.abingtonsd.org/article/1922084. Jenkintown School District

Due to the anticipated inclement weather, the School District of Jenkintown will be closed on Monday. This will be a traditional snow day with no virtual learning. Monday will count as the first of two regularly scheduled built-in snow days for the school year.
