Abington Mom 'Goes Out Her Way To Help Me & Other People,' Son Says

ABINGTON, PA— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?

She is very special because she cares deeply. For the past several years, my mom has a craft business where she sells here crafts to raise the money to buy children and families at Christmas — toys, clothes, diapers and formula. She goes out herself and shops for children and families personally. This money comes out her pocket ... She has covered a total 5,000 families herself to date. My mother is special to me because she sacrifices vacations and trips so I could go to college without any college debt. She helped me to buy a house. She is strict but loving and goes out her way to help me and other people. She just did something recently that I was proud of her. We were riding down Skippack Pike and there was an elderly man walking looking dazed and almost got him by other cars. More than 30 cars passed, ignoring and going around him. She pulled over, called the police, did a U-turn to go back until the police arrived. She didn't need anyone to know she called. Her goal was to make sure the police showed up and he was safe. We left. She cares and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. She goes above and beyond even when she is tired or in pain. I just admired her.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

My mom is awesome, hard-working, caring, giving, loving and supportive.
