Ashbourne Road Bridge Construction Completed

PennDOT said the rehabilitation project in Cheltenham Township was one of seven in the Philadelphia region.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Ashbourne Road Bridge rehabilitation project is complete, PennDOT said.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said construction has been completed on a project to rehabilitate the Ashbourne Road bridge over the branch of Tookany Creek.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor rehabilitated the 114-year-old brick arch, and single-span bridge with reconstructed spandrel walls, wing walls, and parapets.

About 1,609 vehicles travel the 38-foot-wide, 12-foot-long structure daily.

"We thank our residents and commuters for your patience and safety during this rehabilitation project," township officials said.

The Ashbourne Road bridge is one of seven structures in Bucks and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is rehabilitating or replacing under a $7.98 million project.

The other structures scheduled for culvert replacements include:

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
