The Jenkintown native and Hollywood star shows up this summer in the "Superman" blockbuster, playing a small, pivotal role in James Gunn’s DC Universe reboot.
Cooper plays Superman's biological father Jor-El in the movie that stars Philadelphia native David Corenswet, making a cameo appearance in the summer sensation that's soaring at the box office so far after a week in theaters.

Cooper made an appearance through his relationship with Gunn. The two worked together in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise, voicing Rocket the Raccoon.

Cooper, a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, has strong ties to Pennsylvania.
He was born in Abington Township and grew up in Jenkintown and Rydal.
He attended the Germantown Academy, graduating in 1993. He also attended Villanova University for one year before transferring to Georgetown University, where he studied English and minored in French.
