Code Red Hot Weather Emergency Declared In Eastern Montco

The lethal heat index will soar to 105 degrees over the next two days, forecasters said.

EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA —Montgomery County has declared a Code Red hot weather emergency through Tuesday evening due to the severe heat in the Philadelphia region.

Temperatures will reach the upper 90s and the heat index will be over 100 on Tuesday, peaking at around 105 in parts of the Philadelphia suburbs Tuesday.

"Such conditions can be deadly, and residents should take precautions to prevent heat-related stress and illness," Montgomery County Commissioners said.

In Montgomery County, residents are urged to check on the most vulnerable residents, particularly those with severe medical conditions.

Lower-income homes, individuals experiencing partial or full-time homelessness, infants and children, the elderly, and physical laborers are particularly at risk.
