Dog Adoption Event At Montco PetSmart Sunday

JENKINTOWN, PA — The Pennsylvania SPCA is heading to Abington Township this weekend for a dog adoption event.

PetSmart Jenkintown is hosting the off-site adoption event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

With traffic slowing to the PSPCA’s Philadelphia headquarters on Sundays, the adoptions team is taking dogs off-site to reach communities outside the city looking to adopt new canine family members.

In this initial event, about three to five dogs will be in attendance and searching for their families.

"Dog adoptions have decreased not only at our shelter, but at shelters across the country," said Maddie Bernstein, Director of Lifesaving at the Pennsylvania SPCA. "It is clear that we have to be creative and pivot to help these beautiful souls find the families they so greatly deserve."

Dogs can be adopted right from the facility, as it has a kennel license.

Families will also have the opportunity to purchase everything they need for their new family member on the spot.

On this off-site adoption day, all normal adoption processes and policies will be followed.
