Residents In Cheltenham Fear A Proposed Housing Development Would Lead To More Flooding
The Cheltenham Township residents worry that a proposed townhouse development would increase flooding from the Tookany Creek.
CHELTENHAM, PA — Some local residents in this eastern Montgomery Community are worried that a proposed townhouse development would cause flooding problems in the area of the Tookany Creek.
A developer seeks to construct eight townhouses on a stretch of Church Road in Cheltenham Township that lies within a FEMA-identified floodplain, and nearby community members worry that the construction, and simultaneous destruction of woodlands, would exacerbate flooding issues in this part of the neighborhood, according to an article by WHYY reporter Emily Rizzo.
