Gas Spill Prompts Hazmat Response In Elkins Park

ELKINS PARK, PA —Cheltenham Township officials are reporting a hazardous materials incident at (Route 611) York Road and Stahr Roads on Wednesday.

Cheltenham Township Emergency Management said a gasoline spill has infiltrated the storm sewer system and Tookany Creek.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the Fish and Game Commission have been notified and clean-up efforts are underway, officials said.

Authorities are asking residents to avoid the area.

Anyone who smells gas in the area and has concerns should call 911.
