Get Free Shade Trees April 22 In Abington

The Abington Township Shade Tree Commission has 300 native trees to giveaway for free. Trees are available first-come, first-served.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Abington Township residents who are looking to add a little shade to their property have the perfect opportunity coming up.

The township's Shade Tree Commissioner is giving away shade trees at no cost on Saturday, April 22.

The giveaway will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Abington Free Library, 1030 Old York Road in Abington.

Three hundred native trees will be given out at the event.

Tree species include Red Maple, Hackberry ,American Sycamore, White Oak, Willow Oak, Princeton American Elm, Canadian Serviceberry, Pawpaw, White Fringe Tree, and Sweet Bay Magnolia.

All trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each household may take up to two trees, but if you take two trees, one must be a shade tree.
