ABINGTON, PA — The Abington School District has received a financial contribution from a local supermarket that will help feed children in need.
The Giant store in the township's Roslyn section recently donated $9,227 to Abington schools as part of the Feeding School Kids program.

Giant had announced earlier this year the return of its Feeding School Kids initiative, in which customers shopping at the grocery chain could choose whether to round up their purchases at checkout to the nearest dollar to help needy students in local schools.
The program, which was launched last year to address the issue of childhood hunger throughout communities where the supermarket operates, raised more than $3.3 million in 2021, according to a past news release.

"School food programs are critical to fighting food insecurity and ensuring children receive regular, nutritious meals," Jessica Groves, community impact manager for Giant, said in a past statement.
Giant previously said it would donate $250,000 to the program, in addition to any monies collected through the round-up purchase program.
Just last month, the Centennial School District in neighboring Bucks County received more than $18,000 in donations from Giant's round-up program.
