Gloria M. Huber, Formerly of Abington

Huber worked at the former Jenkintown Strawbridge's and also Macy's in Willow Grove.



Gloria M. Huber of Hatboro, died, Sept. 9 at Luther Woods Convalescent Center. She was 81.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William Hyde and Alice Hyde (nee - Harris).

She is the wife of the late William C. Huber; mother of Barbara Huber, Carolyn Magiera, William Huber Jr., and the late Lorrie Godfrey; grandmother of Stephen Magiera Jr., Mark Godfrey, Michael Magiera, Kelly Godfrey, Daniel Magiera, and Matthew Magiera; great-grandmother of Nicholas Godfrey and Jacob Magiera; and the sister of Doris Hyde.

Gloria grew up in the Olney section of Philadelphia. She married William C. Huber at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Olney. She and her husband made their home on Champlost Street and started to raise their family until moving to Abington in December 1959. After raising her children, Gloria went to work first at Strawbridge’s in Jenkintown and later at Macy’s in Willow Grove, PA.

She and William were members of the Trailblazers, where they enjoyed meetings with childhood friends. Gloria also enjoyed playing Shanghai Rummy with her grandsons, embroidery and reading.

A viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m; the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge. A graveside service will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn.

The Rev. Jeff Ziegler from Gloria Dei Church, Huntingdon Valley, will conduct religious services.
