Montco Police Officer Aids Fawn That Fell Down Window Well
A Cheltenham Police sergeant recently helped a fawn that had fallen down a window well in the township. It reunited with its mother.

CHELTENHAM, PA — A police officer in this eastern Montgomery County community recently came to the aid of a wild animal that became stuck in a precarious situation.
Sgt. Jeffrey Murphy, of the Cheltenham Township Police Department, assisted a fawn that had fallen down a residential window well at a home on Fairview Road, according to a department social media post.
A neighbor heard the baby deer yelling and called police for help.

The fawn was removed from the window well and left nearby for the mother to come back and retrieve her young.
"In this case, the baby needed help but most of the time, if you see a fawn out in the open by itself, Mom is usually close by and will leave it for a few hours at a time," the police department posted to Facebook.

Southeastern Pennsylvania is home to a very large deer population.
The Keystone State itself is known to have around 1.5 million deer, according to reports. They are all believed to be of the white-tail species.
