Native Plant Home Garden Tour Coming To Eastern Montgomery County
During the tour in Abington, locals will have a chance to check out some homes showcasing gardens full of plants native to the area.
ABINGTON, PA — Gardening afficionados, or those who simply enjoy checking out lush landscapes, are invited to a tour of this eastern Montgomery County community this coming weekend for a native plant garden tour.
The tour, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, is being hosted by the Abington Township Environmental Advisory Council and will give spectators a chance to see some local homes whose owners are incorporating native plants in their outdoor gardens.
One tour will take place this Saturday and a second on Oct. 15.

Tour participants will get a chance to take home some ideas on how to include native plants in their own backyard and front yard gardens.
"Native plants support the life cycles of wildlife, including birds and beneficial insects, making your garden not just an oasis for humans but also a productive year-round habitat for all," reads a description of the tour on social media.

Those interested in attending must register in advance.
This Saturday's tour will be in Abington Township while the tour on Oct. 15 will take place in both Abington and neighboring Jenkintown Borough.
A $5 registration fee is requested.
During the first tour, a mix of both shade and sun gardens will be shown off, while the second tour will also include wooded gardens and one by a stream, so participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
