Jenkintown Schools' Lock-Down Over, Suspect in Hospital

According to NBC 10 Philadelphia, all schools in Jenkintown were placed under lock-down this morning after police searched for a murder suspect following a traffic stop.

The lock-down, which included Jenkintown schools, as well as some area businesses, was lifted shortly before 11 a.m. when the suspect jumped in front of a train in an attempt to kill himself, according to the report. The suspect is reportedly in critical condition at a local hospital.

According to 6ABC, the chase of the alleged murder suspect started in New York and the suspect worked his way down 309. The jump is being called a suicide attempt, though the suspect did survive.

The suspect jumped in front of a train at the Jenkintown-Wyncote station, located at 3 West Avenue at Greenwood Avenue, causing SEPTA lines to run on up to 30-minute delays on the Norristown, Lansdale and West Trenton lines. 

Passengers aboard the train which struck the man, including Twitter user @TommyLoughner, said that police activity continued along the tracks until a second train could be sent to transport them.
