Oscars Treated To Philly Soft Pretzels By Philly Area Native: Reports
Actor and pretzel connoisseur Adam Shapiro is an Abington native who brought the Philly staple to A-listers at the 95th Academy Awards.

ABINGTON, PA — Most people outside of Philadelphia think of one food when it comes to the city: cheesesteaks.
But actor Adam Shapiro, who hails from Abington, introduced another less hyped Philly food staple to A listers at this year's Academy Awards.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Shapiro supplied the 95th Academy Awards with his own Philly soft pretzels.

At 1 a.m. on March 12, Shapiro and his team got to work baking hundreds and hundreds of Philly-style soft pretzels.
The deal to provide pretzels landed him and his wife, actor Katie Lowes, tickets to attend the award show.
Shapiro — known for his roles in "Never Have I Ever," "Steve Jobs," and "Mank," among others — started Shappy Pretzel Co. in the thick of the pandemic when he was craving the hometown snack, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"I didn’t realize how much I missed Philly and how I was homesick until I started doing this pretzel thing and then all of a sudden, it brought Philly back into my life in the biggest way," he told the Inquirer.
Shappy Pretzel Co.'s offerings are available for nationwide delivery via Gold Belly.
