School officials are planning festivities for Friday and Saturday on its Abington Township campus.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Penn State Abington is celebrating its 75th campus anniversary with festivities, food, fun, and games on Friday and Saturday.

The Old York Road campus has evolved over the years through name and campus changes.

Penn State Abington was founded in 1950 as the Penn State Ogontz Center.

The campus lives out its land grant mission by "educating, inspiring, and shaping students in bold and innovative ways while providing educational resources to local communities," school officials said.

School officials have two days of festivities planned on campus:

Friday

  • 5:30 p.m.: Philanthropy Celebration and 2025 Abington Alumni Awards
  • 7-10 p.m. Free popcorn and snacks.
    • Movie on the Lawn. Superman (2025). Sutherland Plaza – don't forget your blanket!
    • Glow-in-the-dark mini golf. By the duck pond.

Saturday

  • 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.: Grab your Penn State gear. Lares bookstore
  • 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Registration check-in. Lares
  • Grill and Chill
    • Noon to 2 p.m.: Beer garden and snacks. Lares. ###em
    • Noon to 4 p.m.: Food trucks. Outside of Lares. Cash only. (Nick’s Roast Beef, desserts)
    • Noon to 2 p.m.: BBQ lunch (pre-registration required!). Lares
    • 1-2 p.m.: Berkey Creamery ice cream. Lares
  • Noon to 4 p.m.: Family Carnival featuring inflatables, make-and-take plushies, temporary tattoos, lawn games, and pumpkin painting
  • 1-3 p.m.: Open Houses in the Woodland Building
    • History of the campus from the Ogontz School for Girls to Penn State Abington, including digitized yearbooks. Woodland Lobby
    • Works by student Sophie Bell and artist James Maurelle. Art Gallery
    • Wooden Boat Building Open House: Visit the woodshop and art classroom. Chat with John Thompson, teaching professor of art, and young art alumni about the wooden boat building courses, and try steam-bending to build a wooden mast hoop!
    • 2-3 p.m.: Campus tours with the Lion Ambassadors. Start at the Lion Shrine.
  • 3:30-4:30 p.m.: Chat with Chancellor Gary Liguori. Lares
  • 7:30 p.m.: The acclaimed ensemble Minas blends inviting vocals with samba and jazz melodies. Sutherland Auditorium Catch NCAA Division III soccer action at Memorial Field
    • 1-2:30 p.m.: Men’s soccer vs. Penn State Berks
    • 1:45-2 p.m.: Inaugural Hall of Fame inductees announced during men's game halftime
    • 3-4:30 p.m.: Women’s soccer vs. University of Valley Forge
