Veterans Grove at Roslyn Park Dedicated

.

Members of the community dedicated the new Veterans Grove at Roslyn Park early on Memorial Day with the raising of the flag.

People reflected on the dedication by reading a poem in Flanders Field, everyone also recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Later that evening, Roslyn residents participated in a closing flag ceremony, which included the playing of "Taps" and other patriotic songs and the folding of the flag by several of our well-respected veterans.

In addition, several patriotic ceremonies and events are being planned for the summer:

  • Our deceased U.S. service men and women will be honored by flying their casket flag for the day. Families will be able to participate in the raising and lowering of the Veteran’s flag. At sunset, there will be a closing ceremony. Please let us know if you would like to schedule a day to wave a veteran's flag.
  • Our veterans, retired or active, may share their story with us at the closing ceremonies. Veterans can sign up for available dates.
