Flood Risk In Southeastern PA After Nor’Easter Soaks Region

As of 9 a.m., over 1,400 homes and businesses were without power in Pennsylvania, according to state trackers.

PENNSYLVANIA - Thousands of Pennsylvania residents were without power Thursday morning after a "multi-hazard" nor’easter brought heavy rain, 30+ mph winds and flood threats to the region.

As of 9:45 a.m., PECO reported 1,414 active outages in the following counties:

Bucks: 715

"Our service area will be experiencing strong winds and heavy rain throughout the day," PECO said in a Wednesday statement via X, formerly Twitter. "Our crews are ready to respond to any outages that may occur."

Affected customers can report an outage at peco.com/outages.

Wednesday's strong winds and heavy rains even caused a tree to fall onto a vehicle, killing a man in Delaware County, police said. The incident occurred at about 7:35 p.m. on Pennell Road between Mt. Philadelphia, Bucks and Delaware counties are under a coastal flood advisory through 10 a.m. Thursday morning, with minor to moderate flooding possible throughout the day at the Susquehanna River, AccuWeather said.

Over two inches has already fallen on parts of the southeastern Pennsylvania region in the last 48 hours, according to the National Weather Service.

Another round of thunderstorms is expected Thursday afternoon. The rain is forecast to taper off Friday morning, paving the way for partly sunny skies and highs in the low 50s. The weekend forecast appears to be equally sunny with temperatures in the mid 50s.

Here's the latest forecast, according to the National Weather Service:

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 54. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday: A slight chance of showers after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 51. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind around 10 mph.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 54. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 36.
